Instead of buying packed herbal products from the market, why don’t you start gardening herbs at your home? You can go for an indoor gardening of herbs. Container gardening too requires bare minimum space. But nothing could be better than a complete herbal landscape around your house if you can spare a bit of time, energy and space.

Plant these herbs

Some of them are mere spices for you. What you might have not been aware of is that all these are herbs with medicinal and culinary values.

Most common herb in the Mediterranean belt is chives. Chives belong to the onion family and the size is a bit smaller. The leaves are the most important part and are an integral part of French and Swedish cuisines. Apart from chives, parsley and chervil are also culinary herbs among the commonly used spices. The “fine herbes” you must have often heard of in reference to French dishes are basically the above mentioned three herbs in combination. Thus you can initiate gardening with these common spices.

Herbs for salads

Green salad is another core concern you must keep in mind while planting herbs in your garden. Give your garden a nutritional shape. Cucumber which is the most common item in any form of salad is an herb. Chinese cabbage and turnips also fall in the same category. Basils are widely grown herbs which go best with sliced tomatoes and garnished with olive oil and lime juice.

Finally to get a compact and cozy herbal garden for the maximum benefit, you must grow some such plants whose every part is usable. You must be aware of nasturtium. Why don’t you plant this because right from its leaves and flowers, the buds are also safe to eat?
